The final match of the continental cup is scheduled for September 17, which falls on a Sunday. The Asian Cricket Council has officially announced that India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal will participate in the Asia Cup, featuring a total of 13 One Day International (ODI) matches. Pakistan will host four matches of the tournament, while former champions Sri Lanka will be the hosts for nine matches in this prestigious event.

"The tournament will follow a hybrid model, with four matches taking place in Pakistan and the remaining nine matches being held in Sri Lanka," stated the Asian Cricket Council. The 2023 Edition of the Asia Cup will consist of two groups, with two teams from each group advancing to the Super Four stage. The top two teams from the Super Four stage will compete against each other in the final match.

The implementation of the hybrid model was a response to the concerns raised by the BCCI regarding touring Pakistan for the Asia Cup. Previously, Pakistan, as former champions, had been granted the sole hosting rights for the continental tournament.

As per a previous report, it was revealed that the Indian cricket board had agreed to allow Lahore to host four matches involving non-Indian teams in the initial round of the tournament. BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who also serves as the ACC chairman, made it clear that India would not travel to Pakistan due to security concerns.

In the 2023 edition of the Asia Cup, two groups will be formed, and only two teams from each group will advance to the Super Four stage. The top-performing teams from the Super Four stage will then face each other in the final of the Asia Cup.
